PROUD IN REHEASALS
Our London Pride project is well under way, and we are busy rehearsing for our devised play “Proud” which will be performed at the Courtyard Theatre, London in June. The performance will showcase a small snippet of what we have learnt over the past few months whilst working alongside the National Archives and the Bishopsgate Institute. It tells the story of the first London Pride festival through the eyes of two young teenagers Billy and Lily who end up joining the Gay Liberation Movement. The project has been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
WITCHES by Roald Dahl a success
Our Black Dog Theatre Creation Colchester group performed a special retelling of Roald Dahl’s smash-hit favourite book “The Witches.” The play was performed at the Kelvedon Institute to a sell-out audience. Over the past few months, we have been exploring wordplay and creating larger than life characters on stage.
THE SOLDIER Confirmed
We’re really happy to be creating another theatre treat for this years Armed Forces Day which celebrates the work which our armed forces personnel do to support our community. This year we will be performing “The Soldier” by Alfie James and Luke Garner-Greene. The play explores the relationship between a father and a son and family life in the army. The play will be performed at the Etcetera Theatre, London in June.
A RATTY SURPRISE!
Our Story Box Community Theatre Project in Kelvedon has now started and we’re having so much fun. It’s lovely seeing both new and old faces back for our new project. This time around we will be retelling the wonderful story of “The Highway Rat” by the amazing Julia Donaldson.
